The mission of Holt-Atherton Special Collections on the University of the Pacific campus is to collect, preserve, and provide access to manuscript collections made up of primary sources that focus primarily on California and American history, as well as a specialized book collection on the American West, and the university archives.
Special Collections include:
Digital Collections - Browse and search digitized primary sources online!
John Muir Papers - The world's largest collection of Muir documents
Brubeck Collection - The archives of jazz legend Dave Brubeck
Japanese-American Internment Collections - A variety of documents from the internment camps
Western Americana - More than 400 collections of unique primary sources and a specialized book collection
University Archives - Historic records generated by administration, faculty, staff and students of Pacific
The Special Collections department especially welcomes Pacific students to use its unique resources in their research, and is also open to the general public. Please make an appointment.
Hours of Operation:
Monday-Friday, 10:00am - 5:00pm (except holidays and the week between Christmas and New Year's Day)
Holt-Atherton Special Collections is located on the basement level of the William Knox Holt Library on the campus of the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California.
